At university stage, it is expected your essay will be:
- obviously concentrated on the topic and it will deal with its central ideas;
- the result of critical and wide thinking;
- a well thought-out argument;
- and skillfully presented.
(Also, it is hoped you are to be a writing guru capable to produce original and creative essay!)
Comprehending the nature of essays, and what makes your paper scholarly, is necessary knowledge for each student on his or her way towards becoming a writing guru. But you are demanded to place your comprehending into practice.
You as a writing guru will be expected to show the weight of your work to the topic by:
1) recognizing the implications and assumptions highlighting the definite working of the subject and allowing for them in the essay’s course;
2) managing the subject and its main terms within the restrictions of the course and field being studied;
3) concentrating consistently on the main terms and ideas throughout your paper;
4) covering each part of your topic; several topics will comprise an amount of sub-questions or sub-topics related to the key theme.
Also, you will be expected to show critical and wide usage of written resources by:
1) reading with n alert and questioning mind - not taking that something is true as it is issued and not supposing that there is any correct answer to difficult questions;
2) reading to comprehend both the meaning of every separate sentence and its connection to the developing argument’s structure.
